Our frozen soft-shell crabs are whole and ready to use, so you don't need to remove the shell. They are perfect for frying to a crispy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The sweet, tender meat is ideal for dishes like soft-shell crab tempura, soft-shell crab rolls, rice bowls, or served with ponzu sauce. This is a popular ingredient in Japanese restaurants, izakayas, or for fried dishes (agemono) in an omakase course. The crabs are IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) to lock in their freshness and original flavor.
Usage
Thaw the crabs by placing them in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours.
Once thawed and patted dry, they can be directly coated in tempura batter or a light frying flour.
Use them for frying or for grilling with Japanese sauces.
Storage
Store in a freezer at -18°C or below.
Once thawed, use within 24 hours. Do not refreeze.
For best results, store in a vacuum-sealed bag or container to prevent absorbing other odors.
