Our Hime Hokke (small Atka mackerel) has been prepared using the traditional Ichiyaboshi method, where the fish is semi-dried for one day to enhance its flavor and aroma. When grilled, the meat becomes wonderfully soft, juicy, and fragrant. This is a perfect snack for an izakaya, a great pairing for beer, or a delicious warm dish for an omakase meal. The convenient, bite-sized portions are ideal for light grilling or baking until the skin is slightly crispy, which brings out a special, smoky aroma.
Usage
Thaw the fish by placing it in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours.
Grill on a charcoal grill, electric grill, or a dry pan without any additional seasoning.
Serve with a slice of lemon, Japanese mayonnaise, or ponzu sauce.
Storage
Store in a freezer at -18°C.
Once thawed, use immediately within 24 hours.
Do not refreeze, as this will affect the flavor and aroma.
